This a question that gets asked around a lot in the construction industry, as its important to know which type of scaffolding can be used on a particular type of project. The weight capacity of ‘Heavy-Duty scaffolding frames’ show that each scaffold frame has an average weight capacity of 40,300 Ibs.
Here at RG Scaffolding in Warwickshire, near Solihull in the West Midlands, each of our scaffolding and scaffold component must support without failure its own weight and at least four times the maximum intended load. However, because our frames can hold on average 40,300 Ibs, the maximum intended load that can be applied to one of our sets is 10,075 Ibs. The maximum intended load limit on each leg on our scaffolding can be up to 2,518 Ibs. Now, that’s a lot of weight!
Each one of our heavy-duty scaffolding frames tests are conducted in accordance with ANSI/SSFI SC100-5/05, and for each test, three sets of our heavy-duty scaffolding frames were stacked on top of each other without standard pins and spring clips.
Screw jacks were added to the base on a tower that was approximately 20’2” tall. The weight was applied to the top of the scaffolding tower at a rate of 5,000 to 10,000 Ibs over a period of time until failure occurred.
These types of scaffolding frames are manufactured in the highest standards and specifications using higher quality and more expensive steel to ensure the maximum load limit.
Many of our competitors use recycle steel, which unfortunately contains rust and weakens the scaffolding frame. Because of the large amount of weight our scaffolding frames can hold, it is therefore considered to be heavy-duty with that it can support in excess of the 75 ibs/sq. Ft per span.
Materials we use in the scaffolding structures are of highest quality industry standards and all the scaffolding structures undergoes routine checks for any defects or strength issues. Birmingham No1 in the West Midlands.
